GOOD AS GOLD

In cases where larger cavities require the removal of so much decay that there is not enough tooth structure left to support a filling, the dental restoration known as an “inlay” may be recommended. Most inlays are fabricated of gold in a process that begins with the dentist making a wax impression of the cavity. After a temporary filling is set in place, the wax impression is sent to a dental laboratory to have a gold casting fabricated. This piece is then sent back to the dentist who replaces the temporary filling with the gold inlay. Once the necessary adjustments are made to ensure a perfect fit, the gold inlay is cemented into place and the surface is polished. http://ow.ly/i/3MtVw
